S J RES 34:Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Federal Communications Commission relating to “Protecting the Privacy of Customers of Broadband and Other Telecommunications Services”
Vote was this afternoon by the House and unfortunately, it passed meaning your privacy rights, browsing history, and sensitive private data can be monitored, collected, absconded with and sold off by your ISP without any permission from you! That’s right, your GOP Rep and Senator have sold your privacy to their lobbying corporate masters. The resolution, which now only needs to be signed by trump to become law, also hands responsibility of broadband privacy regulation from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and disallows the FCC from making any rules protecting Internet privacy ever again.
In a ironic twist, this also applies to them, their families and THEIR privacy. People are talking about crowdfunding purchases of Government officials browsing history. This could be entertaining if it wasn’t so sad. How anyone could think the Republicans actually care about the citizens of this country is beyond me. At least there were 15 Republicans that crossed party line to vote with the right side on this. We need to focus on these guys for any future legislation where we need crossover votes. As for the one that didn’t vote? no excuses!
Vote was close today 215 to 205. 9 loser reps DID NOT VOTE
No votes: Where the hell were you chicken?
